In 1989 G.F.I. California Garden established a modern factory for the production of fava beans (Foul) and chick peas in Dubai, using the latest technology in canned food production, and governed by quality standards such as ISO and HACCP.

The beans are carefully chosen directly from the farms, and on arrival at the factory are processed under strict quality control. To retain maximum freshness they are canned in food graded lacquered cans, and then distributed to the markets.

Today G.F.I - C.G. processes a wide variety of beans to suit consumers' wide-ranging needs and variable tastes. California Garden's position as Number One brand in the Middle East stems from our success at developing unique formulations to suit the varying Middle East palate.

We manufacture a complete range of fava beans and broad beans, inclusive of our innovative ready-to-eat products with easy open cans, which make us the clear leaders in the pulse industry. We have proven our leadership in not only creating new concepts, but more importantly in maintaining the consistent quality of the products throughout the years and after millions of cans.

G.F.I developed the fava beans (Foul) business by studying and following trends in the modern Middle Eastern life styles. Fava beans cooked the traditional way takes a long time and each region prepares the beans differently. G.F.I. has made it more convenient to enjoy the traditional taste with modern convenience to fit into the hectic life style of people today. This has been achieved without sacrificing the traditional taste of each recipe just as grandmother made it.

Gulf Food Industries, which runs at a capacity of 400,000 cans per day, has reached its six hundred millionth can milestone at the beginning of 2004. Since its establishment in 1989, the Gulf Food Industries has phenomenally grown from the production of a million cartons a year to a staggering five million cartons a year and introduced easy-to-open cans.

Adding to its convenient canning, national ready-to-eat recipes, peeled beans, white lacquered cans for insulation milestones, Gulf Food Industries has now invested over 7 million Dirhams ( USD 2 Million) in an Effluent Treatment Plant (ETP) that treats waste water before discharging it into the ocean. The ETP plant is capable of treating 1,000 cubic meters/day.

Gulf Food Industries innovation in and domination of the beans category in the Middle East are the roots of the company’s continuous expansions of its product line-up, new markets and venturing into new areas of business such as private labeling.
